Role Overview

Nasuni’s Cloud Services team builds and operates UniFS-as-a-Service and related cloud-native services running across AWS and Azure environments. These services power enterprise-scale file storage workflows used by global customers.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and deliver production-grade cloud services that interact with large-scale enterprise file data. This role combines hands-on Python development, distributed systems engineering, and cloud-native service design.

This role is ideal for engineers who:

Level & Scope Definition

In this role, you will:

• Own delivery of major features and service components within UniFS cloud services.
• Design and implement scalable Python-based APIs and services.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and propose improvements to reliability and scalability.
• Lead development initiatives involving multiple engineers within your team.
• Improve reliability, observability, and operational maturity of cloud services.
• Mentor junior engineers and help raise engineering quality.

You will operate with moderate to high autonomy while collaborating closely with engineering leadership and product teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Python-based cloud services supporting UniFS-as-a-Service.
• Build scalable APIs using modern frameworks such as FastAPI and Pydantic.
• Integrate services with AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
• Implement serverless and event-driven architectures using services such as:
• AWS Lambda
• DynamoDB
• SQS
• Kinesis
• Azure Container Apps
• CosmosDB
• Event Hub
• Develop automated tests using pytest or similar frameworks.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments using Docker.
• Implement infrastructure as code using AWS CDK or Azure Bicep.
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for production systems.
• Collaborate with Product Management, QA, Support, and Documentation teams.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and design discussions.
• Leverage modern developer tools, including AI-assisted development workflows, to improve productivity and engineering quality.

Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications

• 6–9 years of professional software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of production Python development.
• Experience building backend services or APIs in production environments.
• Experience working with AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
• Experience developing serverless or container-based cloud applications.
• Experience writing automated tests using pytest or equivalent frameworks.
• Experience with REST API development using frameworks such as FastAPI.
• Experience working with Docker-based development workflows.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals:
• scalability
• resilience
• observability
• fault tolerance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working across both AWS and Azure environments.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (AWS CDK, Bicep, Terraform).
• Experience building event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with:
• boto3
• Azure SDK for Python
• Experience operating services in production SaaS environments.
• Experience using AI-powered development tools to accelerate engineering workflows.

Ideal Qualifications

• Experience developing serverless architectures at scale.
• Experience designing high-throughput distributed services.
• Experience working with large-scale data platforms or storage systems.
• AWS or Azure certifications.

Experience Guidelines

• 6–9 years total software engineering experience
• 5+ years production Python development
• 3+ years cloud-native service development
