Role Overview

Nasuni is hiring a Software Engineering Manager – Cloud Services to lead the team responsible for building and operating cloud-native services that strengthen our platform’s ransomware detection and data protection capabilities.

These services process large volumes of system data, prepare it for machine learning workflows, and integrate detection capabilities into production systems that help enterprises protect and recover critical file data.

This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who combines:

• strong Python and distributed systems experience
• AWS cloud architecture expertise
• the ability to lead engineers and deliver reliable cloud services

This role focuses on engineering leadership and delivery execution, not cybersecurity research or machine learning model development.

Level & Scope Definition

In this role you will:

• Lead and develop a team of approximately 5 software engineers.
• Own delivery of cloud-native services supporting ransomware detection infrastructure.
• Provide technical direction for Python-based distributed systems.
• Partner with Product, Security, Cloud Platform, and SRE teams.
• Ensure systems meet reliability, scalability, and security requirements.

You will remain technically engaged, participating in architecture discussions and reviewing critical code paths, while focusing primarily on team leadership, delivery predictability, and system reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software engineers building cloud-native services within Nasuni’s Cloud Services platform.
• Design and evolve Python-based services that collect and process system data used for ransomware detection workflows.
• Architect scalable systems leveraging AWS services such as S3 and event-driven data pipelines.
• Ensure cloud services meet high standards for security, reliability, and observability.
• Drive Agile execution including sprint planning, estimation discipline, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
• Establish disciplined engineering practices using delivery metrics and data-informed planning.
• Conduct performance management and coach engineers for technical and career growth.
• Review system designs and provide technical direction grounded in deep system understanding.
• Collaborate with Security, Platform, and SRE teams to strengthen detection and recovery capabilities.
• Leverage modern engineering tools—including AI-assisted development workflows—to improve team productivity while maintaining strong validation and quality standards.

Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of direct engineering management experience.
• Strong Python development experience in production systems.
• Hands-on experience designing or operating AWS-based distributed systems.
• Experience building scalable backend services or data-processing systems.
• Experience leading Agile software development teams.
• Ability to understand complex system data flows and architect improvements across services.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building data pipelines that support machine learning workflows.
• Experience integrating ML-driven detection capabilities into production systems.
• Familiarity with AWS S3 and object storage architectures.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience working in security, ransomware protection, or data protection domains.
• Familiarity with file systems or SMB protocols.

Ideal Qualifications

• Experience building anomaly detection or security telemetry systems.
• Experience operating high-availability SaaS infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on technical engagement with team leadership.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to improve development productivity.

Experience Guidelines

• 8–15 years total software engineering experience
• 2–5 years engineering management experience
• 3+ years AWS production system experience
