Position: Azure Data Engineer (Offshore - Remote)

This role requires 6 to 8 years of experience with at least 1 year of recent Synapse experience.
Smartbridge is seeking an experienced Azure Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable data solutions using Microsoft Azure technologies. The ideal candidate will bring 6–8 years of overall data engineering experience, including strong expertise in Azure Data Factory (ADF), SQL, and ETL processes, along with at least 1 year of recent experience working with Azure Synapse Analytics.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop, enhance, and maintain ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF).
Design and implement data models and data warehousing solutions using Azure Synapse Analytics.
Optimize SQL queries and perform performance tuning on large and complex datasets.
Work with Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database, and other Azure data services to support analytics and reporting needs.
Implement data security best practices, including role-based access control (RBAC) and data masking.
Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
Azure Data Factory (ADF): Building, orchestrating, and monitoring data pipelines.
Azure Synapse Analytics: Data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning (minimum 1 year of recent hands-on experience required).
SQL Server / T-SQL: Writing complex queries, views, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
ETL & Data Transformation: Experience handling large-scale datasets.
Azure Data Lake & Blob Storage: Managing structured and unstructured data.
Power BI or other data visualization tools: Preferred but not mandatory.
Python or Spark: Exposure preferred; Databricks experience is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
Microsoft Azure certification preferred (not mandatory at hire).
Industry experience in Oil & Gas, Life Sciences, or Food & Beverage is a plus.
100% remote role (offshore) — must be available to work second shift to overlap with the U.S. team until 12:00 PM CST.
Six-month probation period prior to full-time confirmation.
If Azure certification is not already held, it must be completed during the probation period.
Candidates will undergo a 45-60 minute TestGorilla assessment, including:
Intro Video Section – Candidate introduction & motivation.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills – Scenario-based questions.
Technical Test – Covering SQL, Azure Data Engineering-related questions, and possible coding tasks.
