Manage sales across South India by protecting existing accounts, acquiring new customers, developing distribution channels, and owning the full sales cycle. Build customer relationships, sell technical industrial products to OEMs, prepare proposals, negotiate and renew orders, monitor market and competitor trends, forecast sales, and report territory performance. The role requires approximately 50% travel, technical value-selling expertise, independent work, and knowledge of sensors, miniature valves, and industrial applications.
The Sales Account Manager - Industrial Sensors is an individual contributor responsible for driving profitable growth by developing strategic customer relationships, securing new business opportunities, and expanding existing accounts across the assigned territory.
The role focuses on promoting and selling the Gems Setra portfolio of sensing, monitoring, and fluid control solutions, including:
- Pressure Sensors & Pressure Switches
- Flow Sensors
- Level Sensors
- Solenoid Valves
- HVAC & Room Pressure Monitoring Solutions
- Industrial Process Monitoring Solutions
The successful candidate will work closely with OEMs, distributors, system integrators, and end users across industries including industrial automation, water & wastewater, HVAC, renewable energy, semiconductor, medical equipment, specialty vehicles, and process manufacturing. The role requires a consultative, value-based sales approach combined with strong technical understanding and account management capabilities.
Approximately 50% of the role will involve customer visits, business development activities, channel engagement, and market development within the assigned territory.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Key Account Management & Business Growth
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to grow revenue within assigned accounts and territory.
- Protect existing business while identifying and securing new business opportunities.
- Establish and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including engineering, procurement, operations, and executive leadership teams.
- Drive customer engagement through regular visits, business reviews, and opportunity development discussions.
- Own the complete sales cycle from opportunity identification through order closure.
Product & Solution Selling
- Promote the Gems Setra portfolio of industrial sensing and fluid control products.
- Apply consultative and value-selling techniques to understand customer challenges and recommend effective solutions.
- Engage customers on technical applications and provide product selection guidance.
- Support customer specification development and influence design-in opportunities.
- Work closely with engineering and product management teams to develop customized solutions when required.
Channel & Territory Management
- Manage assigned distribution partners and drive profitable growth through channel development.
- Conduct regular distributor reviews, product training, and pipeline discussions.
- Expand market penetration through channel partnerships and direct customer engagement.
- Identify new applications, vertical markets, and growth opportunities across the territory.
Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis
- Stay informed on industry trends, customer requirements, and emerging technologies.
- Gather and share competitive intelligence, customer feedback, and market insights with sales leadership and product management teams.
- Monitor market developments and identify opportunities that support business growth.
Sales Operations & Forecasting
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, account plans, opportunity pipelines, and CRM records.
- Prepare regular reports covering sales performance, customer activities, forecasts, and market developments.
- Utilize CRM tools and sales analytics to effectively manage opportunities and business performance.
- Support demand planning and inventory visibility by maintaining accurate forecasting information.
Customer Satisfaction & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through effective communication and issue resolution.
- Coordinate with internal teams regarding pricing, quotations, delivery schedules, and technical support.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to improve business results.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in technical sales, key account management, or business development within industrial markets.
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth and achieving sales targets.
- Experience managing OEM customers, industrial accounts, and channel partners.
- Strong knowledge and experience with one or more of the following products:
- Pressure Sensors
- Pressure Switches
- Flow Sensors
- Level Sensors
- Solenoid Valves
- Industrial Instrumentation Products
- Experience selling to OEMs, industrial automation customers, and process industries.
- Demonstrated success using consultative, application, and value-based selling techniques.
- Understanding of channel management and distributor sales models.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with CRM systems; Salesforce experience preferred.
- Fluent written and spoken English required.
