About profile – Software Applications Engineer, System Software Development

As a Software Engineer in Systems Integration Group (SIG) at Micron Technology, Inc. you will work as part of the Applications Software Engineering team, and be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software applications developed using a variety of technologies, that is used to support various Engineering and Manufacturing processes across the Assembly & Test organization. You may be asked to help create software requirements and specification documents following standard department practices.

Daily Work

The daily work of our embedded team involves:

• Working in cross-discipline design teams involving software, electrical, controls, and mechanical engineers.
• Develop embedded and interface software, offer feedback on schematic design, review PCB layouts, prototype circuits, debug analog and digital hardware, automate testing, create user libraries for hardware control, and document.
• Coding primarily in C, C++, and Python under Linux for various microcontrollers and computing modules acting as the interface to custom hardware.
• Leading the performance of a medium size team for their work.
• Tracking and meeting the sprint goals.
• Mentoring new team members fresh out of college.

Primary responsibilities

• Work closely with software, electrical, mechanical, and control engineers in the design and development of next-generation memory testers
• Supporting existing testers
• Develop/Debug in C/C++ for embedded environments
• Develop/Debug in C++ and Python for the hardware interface environment
• Use of lab equipment for design bring-up and testing
• Communication – written, spoken, creating technical documents
• Proven track record of leading a small to medium size team to achieve their technical and organizational goals through the work you're doing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience required
• 6 Years Minimum Experience in Embedded Software Interfacing with Hardware
• C and C++ proficiency
• Fundamental electrical engineering knowledge
• Proficiency in mixed circuitry
• Lab Equipment Familiarity
• Schematic, PCB Layout Familiarity
• Experience building sophisticated systems in a multi-disciplinary engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ Years Experience in Embedded Software Interfacing with Hardware
• Python and Bash proficiency
• Proficiency in Linux and GNU tool chain
• Experience with schematics, and PCB layout
• Experience collaborating with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, SMUs
• Calibration Experience
