Do you want to work in a results-oriented, hands-on, multi-discipline design engineering environment, writing, and debugging software on physical hardware?
Our equipment software team is looking to hire a driven, motivated embedded software lead engineer. This lead engineer will build embedded software running on bare metal, embedded Linux, as well as Linux-based higher level interface software as well as supervise a medium sized software and electrical engineering team. You will collaborate extensively with the main design team based in Boise, Idaho USA. The main design team consists of other software and electrical engineers among other engineering disciplines. Together you will design, manufacture, and support custom semiconductor testers.
Daily Work
The daily work of this position involves:

Working in cross-disciplined design teams involving software, electrical, controls, and mechanical engineers.

Developing embedded and interface software, providing input to schematic design, reviewing PCB layouts, prototyping circuits, debugging analog and digital hardware, automating testing, developing user libraries to control hardware, and creating documentation.

Coding primarily in C, C++, and Python under Linux for various microcontrollers and computing modules acting as the interface to custom hardware.

Supervising of a medium size design team.

Provide mentoring to team members.

Primary responsibilities

Supervise a team of electrical, embedded, and system software engineers.

Work closely with software, electrical, mechanical, and control engineers in the design and development of next-generation memory testers

Supporting existing testers
-
Develop/Debug in C/C++ for embedded environments
-
Develop/Debug in C++ and Python for the hardware interface environment
-
Use of lab equipment for design bring-up and testing
-
Communication – written, spoken, creating technical documents
-
Proven ability to lead a small to medium size team, for their technical and organization goals and deliverables.

Managing a medium size team’s performance, deliverables and growth.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
-
6 Years Minimum Experience Embedded Software Interfacing with Hardware
-
Proficiency in Linux and GNU tool chain
-
Experience with schematics, and PCB layout
-
C and C++ proficiency
-
Electrical engineering knowledge
-
Proficiency in mixed circuitry
-
Lab Equipment Familiarity
-
Schematic, PCB Design Familiarity
-
Experience building complex systems in a multi-disciplinary engineering team.

Team supervisor experience - managing workflow, training team members, performance evaluation, and resolving employee issues, reporting.
Preferred Qualifications

6+ Years Experience in Embedded Software Interfacing with Hardware

Python and Bash proficiency

Calibration Experience

Prior people leadership experience or a strong desire to take up a technical manager along with people leadership role.
