OVERVIEW:
As a lab developer, the primary function of this role will be to build and maintain VM-based and cloud-based labs as designed by subject matter experts. This entails standing up VMs and installing and configuring software on those VMs to meet supplied specifications. In addition to lab development, the Lab Developer will also help provide user support during live Bootcamps and help respond to content related questions from learners via the Ask a Mentor feature. Other development tasks, such as reviewing content for technical accuracy and authoring assessment questions may also be assigned.
It is expected Lab Developers will keep up to date with emerging technologies, certification news, and industry trends to act as a resource to internal and external stakeholders.
OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS:

Build and maintain VM-based and cloud-based labs

Respond to learner questions in real-time text-based chats and email
-
Participate in content development, primarily performing technical reviews of virtual lab content and assessment questions

Provide subject matter expertise to internal stakeholders by keeping up to date on emerging technologies and industry news, and communicating as necessary

Maintain in-depth understanding (“expert user”) of Skillsoft technologies and services
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Post-secondary education in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience
-
Previous experience (1-2 years) working in a customer-facing role
-
Strong research, analytical and troubleshooting skills
-
Ability and willingness to learn and participate in ongoing education
-
Committed to excelling in a team-oriented distributed environment
-
Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
-
A minimum of intermediate knowledge in one of the following areas:

Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)

DevOps
Knowledge in one or more of the following areas is also valued:
