Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a highly skilled SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our database systems to ensure high availability, security, and performance. As a key contributor to our IT infrastructure, you will support the organization’s data management capabilities, enabling data-driven decision-making and operational excellence. Your expertise will help drive innovative solutions that align with our business objectives and support the company’s growth.
Software Requirements
Required:
- SQL database management and related tools (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) with a minimum of 4 years of experience.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for database maintenance and automation tasks.
- Knowledge of database backup, recovery, and security best practices.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with cloud-based database services such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL.
- Knowledge of DevOps tools and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Experience with database performance tuning, monitoring tools, and troubleshooting.
Overall Responsibilities
Design, install, and maintain robust SQL database solutions ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
Monitor database performance and implement improvements to optimize latency, throughput, and capacity planning.
Develop and enforce database security standards, ensuring data integrity and compliance with security protocols.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, system administrators, and business stakeholders to understand infrastructure needs and deliver reliable solutions.
Conduct regular database health checks, backups, and disaster recovery procedures.
Participate in planning and execution of database upgrade and migration projects.
Provide technical guidance and support for complex database issues, and facilitate code reviews and troubleshooting.
Stay current with emerging database technologies, trends, and best practices, and recommend strategic improvements.

Programming Languages
Required: Strong SQL proficiency; experience with database scripting languages.
Preferred: Knowledge of Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation.
Databases/Data Management
Required: Extensive experience with SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL or PostgreSQL.
Preferred: Exposure to NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
Cloud Technologies
Preferred: Experience with cloud database services like AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud SQL.

Alternative experience: Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale data systems and cloud migrations can be deemed equivalent.
Day-to-Day Activities
Attend daily stand-up meetings and participate in project planning sessions.
Collaborate with development and operations teams to understand business data requirements.
Perform routine database monitoring, maintenance, and tuning tasks.
Implement and test backup, recovery, and security protocols.
Review code changes and participate in team code reviews.
Assist colleagues with technical issues and troubleshooting.
Stay updated with the latest database management trends and technologies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) are preferred.
