Job Description

Experian Consumer Services (ECS) is looking for a technical manager to guide a high performing Android native application development team to even greater heights. If you love the challenge of wrangling a large development team, finding ways to help improve not only the product but the process, and are a charismatic outgoing people person, then this job is for you.

Collaboration with your iOS native application and web counterparts will be key to deliver a unified Experian experience to our customers. Working along side your leadership, you will help to grow developers technically and professionally, while providing opportunities to deliver on their projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline. 

• 5+ years of proven experience in Android application development. 

• Proven track record of leading Android developers and delivering quality applications. 

• Dealing with a larger number of developers a plus. 

• Proficient with the Google Play Store release process, dealing with review issues. 

• Excellent communication skills.

• Upbeat and positive attitude. Adaptable to change, and able to rally team to meet business deliveries. 

• Deep understanding of Android frameworks. 

• Experience consuming RESTful APIs with Android applications. 

• Comfortable working in a team environment following the Agile methodology. 

• Understands Android UX and works closely with the design team to ensure UI designs are aligned with the current Android UI guidelines. 

• Experience in working in Java and Kotlin code. 

• Interest and ability to learn different technology stacks as needed. 

• Has experience working with large code bases. 

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment to guiding a team to deliver well-designed, reusable, and high-quality code on time. 

Responsibilities: 

• Be the face of the Android team, providing a main point of contact for the organization to funnel Android specific questions. 

• Set goals for the Android developers aligning with business priorities. 

• Develop career and professional growth plans for developers and provide mentorship to team members. 

• Deliver feedback on successes and improvements to developers in regular 1:1s. 

• Guide the team in the many projects, helping them to deliver on time and with the expected exceptional quality. 

• Work with leadership to determine project timing and staffing needs for initiatives. 

• Comminute roadblocks quickly, precisely, and offer solutions to management. 

• Be responsible to continue growing the team with a diverse, but balanced, mixture of developers to provide growth opportunities and mentorship amongst the developers. 

• Drive improvements on the team, including new technologies, processes, and methodologies.

• Collaborate with the entire organization to make sure a consistent experience is delivered to all Experian users.

• Present and defend team technical and architectural choices persuasively, especially when they have impact on schedules. 

• Guide cross-team engineering efforts such as improving code review system, build pipelines, monitoring, etc.
