About the team:
Designers at HackerRank are members of a strong and growing creative group, while also collaborating closely with their peers in Product and Engineering within their dedicated team. This position is embedded within the HackerRank Community team, responsible for crafting experiences that engage and grow our community of over 26 million developers. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to flex your consumer-oriented design skills to create products that developers love and rely on, while working closely with peers focused on B2B products to identify opportunities to strengthen the developer experience no matter where they are interacting with HackerRank.
About the role:
As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll take ownership over the end-to-end experience of your product area, identifying problems worth solving and designing innovative, high-quality solutions that resonate with users. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, analysts, and engineers, and own design throughout the product development lifecycle from ideation and conceptualization all the way through interaction and visual design.
At HackerRank, we believe the future is human plus AI. You’ll blend a solid grasp of fundamental UI paradigms with innovative AI-powered capabilities. This role specifically focuses on the HackerRank Community, helping developers showcase their skills, find jobs that resonate, and prepare for the interview process. Experience working with developer environments and AI-powered code editors is a plus.
What you’ll do:
- Design and ship features that balance UI best practices within AI-powered experiences.
- Proactively research and prototype your ideas, including comfort in adopting new tools that shorten the time between concept and delivery.
- Stay current on best-in-class developer experiences.
- Work independently and strategically to identify problems worth solving and design solutions that users love.
- Partner closely with engineering, product management, AI research, and design peers to define both long-term strategy and short-term tactics.
- Deeply care about the full user experience, from the moment they touch the product through related journeys.
- Manage competing priorities and act on decisions in the face of ambiguity.
- Contribute to the overall design and product culture at HackerRank.

- With a rich portfolio and years of experience, you know what quality looks like and how to achieve it.
- You’ve worked on consumer or prosumer products and understand how a small micro-interaction or personalized moment can drive deeper engagement and growth.
- Every detail matters, and you aren’t shy to share and help lift the bar for everyone.
What you bring:
- 5+ years of hands-on industry experience as a product designer
- A portfolio demonstrating excellent visual, UI, and interactive skills
- At least 3 years working on high-growth consumer or prosumer products
- Comfortable with prototyping or coding your ideas. Experience working with AI-powered IDEs like Cursor or Bolt is a plus
- Excellent communication skills including spoken and written English
- Comfort working with ambiguous problems, independently or with multiple stakeholders, and the ability to balance existing design standards with new AI paradigms
- Proven ability to ship high-quality products in a self-directed manner
