The Unified Communication team at Motorola Solutions is seeking an accomplished and visionary Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead our Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Strategic Project initiatives. This pivotal role involves leading a high-performing engineering team focused on designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge AI-driven solutions that enhance our unified communication products and services. The ideal candidate possesses a deep technical background in software engineering, a proven track record of managing and mentoring technical teams, and extensive experience in bringing AI/ML models from research, prototypes to production-ready enterprise systems.
ResponsibilitiesLeadership and ManagementLead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, machine learning engineers, and data scientists, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Define team priorities, allocate resources, manage project timelines, and ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of AI/ML-powered features.
Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support the career development of team members.
Collaborate with product management and cross-functional teams to translate business needs and product requirements into technical specifications and a clear AI/ML roadmap.
Define the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for integrating AI and ML capabilities across the Unified Communication product portfolio (e.g., natural language processing for translation, transcription and summarization, predictive analytics, intelligent routing, conversational AI).
Oversee the entire AI/ML lifecycle, from data collection and model training to MLOps, deployment, monitoring, and performance tuning in production environments.
Ensure the engineering team adheres to best practices in software development, including code review, unit testing, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and secure coding standards.
Drive the selection and implementation of appropriate technologies, frameworks, and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) to support scalable and robust AI infrastructure.
Partner closely with AI Engineering organization, Research & Developments teams to identify emerging AI technologies, frameworks, platforms and assess their potential for application within the Unified Communications product line.
Work with Data Governance and Legal teams to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and ethical AI principles
Communicate complex technical concepts and project status effectively to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
Basic RequirementsBasic Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or management role directly overseeing AI/ML or data-intensive engineering teams.
Deep practical experience with the full lifecycle of building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade machine learning models (MLOps).
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python and Java/C++, and familiarity with common ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
Proven experience designing and implementing scalable cloud-native architectures for AI applications on major platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Experience in Crafting precise, effective prompts to guide AI models for specific outputs (e.g., text, code, images) and iterative refinement.
Extensive experience in building custom, reusable, proactive, "context-aware" AI assistants that understand specific, recurring contexts like situational factors and technical states that consistently shape how an end user interacts with an application.
Extensive experience in Utilizing AI to structure, clean, and analyze unstructured data for actionable insights and visualization.
Experience in developing Agentic AI solutions for Real Time Mission Critical Audio, Video and Data Communications or closely related enterprise software industry.
Demonstrated ability to drive technical innovation and influence organizational strategy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
