General Summary
Warner Bros Discovery is recruiting a Senior Manager for a full-time position to manage global indirect tax (VAT/GST/Sales tax) compliance. The right candidate will have experience in global compliance and reporting of indirect tax processes, working with SAP, implementing processes and controls, and strong management and organizational skills.
One of the most important responsibilities is managing and developing a Centre of Excellence (COE) of indirect tax compliance specialists and to partner on the preparation of returns with a Co-Sourcing partner.
Our Team
Warner Bros Discovery's Tax team is located in the US, UK, Poland, Netherlands, Singapore and India. This role will be located in Hyderabad, India which is also the base for Warner Bros Discovery's Regional Capability Center. The role will be within the wider Tax team and will report into the Global Indirect Tax compliance and reporting lead based in Poland.
The Role
An exciting opportunity has become available in the Center of Excellence (COE) for Indirect tax compliance and reporting. The role offers the suitable candidate the opportunity to manage and develop a COE within a multinational environment across several regional territories i.e. APAC, EMEA and LATAM, working together with our Co-Sourcing partner. In particular, the role will involve the following responsibilities:
- Managing the COE and Co-Sourcing relationship on a daily basis
- Leading on transitions of reporting processes to a centralized model
- Managing and supervising reporting for assigned territories:
- Performing quality controls, and approving timely VAT payments
- Ensuring internal and statutory deadlines are met
- Identifying, mitigating, and resolving any opportunities, risks and errors
- Maintaining the integrity and accuracy of VAT reporting data
- Working closely with advisors on the end-to-end reporting process
- Optimizing VAT/GST working capital [e.g., refunds, bad debts etc.]
- Supporting and managing indirect tax external audits and controversies
- Developing guidelines and training programs for the business
- Supporting restructuring projects from a compliance perspective
- Supporting on functional requirements for ERP and boundary systems
- Assisting in implementation of e-invoicing and digital reporting initiatives
- Driving improvements and efficiencies in processes and reporting
Critical to success:
- Proven track record of managing indirect tax compliance in multiple territories.
- A critical thinker who can challenge processes, quickly flag risks, and offer up mitigation strategies
- Ability to interact with senior internal stakeholders, auditors, and advisors
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail within a rapidly changing environment
- An independent worker who can lead projects from start to finish whilst sharing knowledge with team members
- The ability to prioritize competing demands on time.
- Ability to manage and develop team members
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
- Accounting and tax qualifications
- IT literate including knowledge of SAP or similar systems
- 8-10 years of experience working in indirect tax compliance.
- Good personal skills with a hands-on team-oriented attitude.
- Commitment to teamwork through relationship-building, reliability and collaboration.
- Experience of working in an international organisation supporting cross-functional teams and multiple businesses.
- Experience of providing indirect analysis and recommendations to Director/VP level.
- Experience of managing relationships with tax authorities and tax advisors.
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communications skills.
- English essential, other language skills extremely useful.
