Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer to join our global team in an Engineering Manager role. This role will play a major part in the delivery of our Group Data Strategy and Data Transformation Journey by delivering, enhancing, and maintaining our IQEQ Data Platform which will drive how our data is managed and used to deliver outcomes in a host of key areas to maximise business value and growth delivering improvements for internal and external stakeholders and clients.

This is a deeply technical, hands-on role requiring an experienced practitioner who will get directly involved in expanding and optimizing our data pipeline architecture. We need a proven data engineering professional with extensive, current experience in building and managing complex data infrastructures. The ideal candidate will have a track record of rolling up their sleeves to construct, troubleshoot, and refine data pipelines through direct, practical work.

You will actively support our software developers, database architects, data analysts, and data scientists by directly implementing data initiatives, not just strategizing. Your day-to-day responsibilities demand practical, technical expertise in data wrangling, with a proven ability to navigate and leverage significant data assets to build optimal production-ready models.

You will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects and you must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products

Tasks:

  • You’ll play a critical role in delivering the Group Data Strategy and Data Transformation journey by leading the delivery, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of the IQEQ Data Platform to maximise business value and growth.
  • You’ll operate as a deeply technical, hands-on Engineering Manager, directly building, expanding, optimising, and troubleshooting complex, production‑ready data pipeline architectures.
  • You’ll apply extensive, current data engineering expertise to construct, refine, and manage large-scale data infrastructures, demonstrating a proven ability to work directly with complex data assets.
  • You’ll actively support software developers, database architects, data analysts, and data scientists by implementing data initiatives end-to-end, ensuring consistent and optimal data delivery across projects.
  • You’ll work autonomously across multiple teams, systems, and products, ensuring scalable, reliable data architectures while confidently balancing hands-on delivery with cross‑team technical leadership.

Qualifications

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 7–10 years of software engineering experience, including strong hands‑on expertise in data engineering and analytics within complex environments (financial services preferred).
  • You bring deep technical capability across Linux and Bash, programming languages such as Python, Go, Scala, C++, or Kotlin, advanced Python libraries (Pandas, NumPy, PySpark, Dask), and a strong foundation in algorithms and data structures.
  • You have proven experience with databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), data lakes and warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift), stream processing (Kafka, Kinesis), and the implementation of data warehousing and API solutions.
  • You communicate effectively by adapting your style to diverse audiences, act decisively with an action‑oriented mindset, collaborate smoothly across cultures and geographies, and demonstrate strong analytical, problem‑solving, and diagnostic skills with keen attention to detail.
  • You operate confidently in fast‑paced global organisations, lead and mentor teams, work with integrity and drive, possess strong stakeholder communication skills, and bring exposure to ISO 27001 information security compliance; fluency in English is required, with additional European languages considered an asset.
