New Relic is looking for an experienced Senior Data Analyst (FinOps), to play an essential role in supporting our Cloud Platform Engineering (CPE) organization. This role will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our cloud infrastructure costs. They will be responsible for analyzing cloud usage data, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making. Your analytical skills will help ensure that our cloud resources are used efficiently and align with business objectives.
As the Senior Data Analyst (FinOps), you will handle financial reports, conduct analysis, and offer insights to guide the organization’s budgeting and investment decisions. To be successful, you’ll have a deep understanding of the cloud cost reporting on any of the cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and work with the engineering team to build variance reporting against budgets, anomaly analysis and come up with strategies for effective cloud costs spend.
What you'll do
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Perform infrastructure cost anomaly analysis and month end variance analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Analyze variances between actual results and budget/forecast, and provide insights into driving factors.
- Conduct market and industry research to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Develop and maintain complex financial models to project business performance and evaluate financial strategies.
This role requires
- 5+ experience in Financial Analysis, strong ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Experience with cloud costs in at least one of the major Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, financial software, and MS Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, charting and macros.
- Analytical mindset to perform deep dive investigations using data
- Has experience in driving cost efficiency
- Proficient in writing SQL queries
Bonus points if you have
- Data visualization tools (Tableau or PowerBI or Quicksight or excel) to develop executive dashboards
- Experience with FinOps industry and best practices
- FinOps Certified Practitioner preferred
