Python and GenAI - Software Engineer

About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineer-Python and GenAI.
We are seeking a Senior Engineer specializing in Agentic AI and Generative AI systems to design, build, and operate autonomous, AI-driven platforms. The ideal candidate has deep experience with AI agents, AgentOps, and LLM-based systems, supported by strong Python engineering skills and modern backend frameworks such as FastAPI.
You will play a key role in building reliable, production-grade multi-agent systems, integrating event-driven workflows, and operationalizing AI agents at scale.
In this role, you will:

• Participate in low to moderately complex initiatives and projects associated with the technology domain, including installation, upgrades, and deployment efforts
• Identify opportunities for service quality and availability improvements within the technology domain environment
• Design, code, test, debug, and document for low to moderately complex projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
• Review and analyze technical assignments or challenges that are related to low to medium risk deliverables and that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternative technology domains
• Present recommendations for resolving issues or may escalate issues as needed to meet established service level agreements
• Exercise some independent judgment while also developing understanding of given technology domain in reference to security and compliance requirements
• Provide information to technology colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Job Expectations:

• Design and implement Agentic AI systems for real-world use cases
• Build and maintain Generative AI-powered backend services
• Develop autonomous agents using Google ADK or similar agent frameworks
• Create robust AgentOps practices for monitoring, observability, and reliability
• Design scalable APIs using FastAPI and document them with OpenAPI
• Integrate AI agents with Kafka-driven event pipelines
• Optimize agent prompts and reasoning strategies for accuracy and performance
• Collaborate with product, ML, and platform teams to deliver AI-first solutions
• Ensure production readiness, security, and scalability of AI systems

• Strong hands-on experience building Agentic AI systems
• Single-agent and multi-agent architectures
• Tool-using, planning, and autonomous decision-making agents
• Deep understanding of Generative AI & LLM-based systems
• Experience with Agent frameworks / SDKs
• Google ADK, LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar
• Solid knowledge of prompt engineering techniques
• Zero-shot, few-shot, chain-of-thought, role-based prompting
• Prompt optimization, hallucination control, context management
• Experience with AgentOps
• Agent lifecycle management
• Monitoring, logging, versioning, and evaluation of agents
• Debugging agent behavior in production systems

• Strong proficiency in Python fundamentals
• Excellent understanding of Python OOP concepts
• Object-oriented design, SOLID principles, design patterns
• Experience building APIs using FastAPI
• Strong knowledge of OpenAPI / Swagger specifications

• Hands-on experience with Python-Kafka integration
• Kafka producers/consumers
• Event-driven workflows for AI agents
• Understanding of asynchronous and distributed processing patterns
