Sysco LABS’ enterprise technology is present in the end-to-end foodservice journey, enabling the sourcing of food products, merchandising, storage and warehouse operations, order placement and pricing algorithms, the delivery of food and supplies to Sysco’s global network and the in-restaurant dining experience of the end-customer.
The Opportunity
We are currently on the lookout for a Technical Operations Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues within SLAs
- Monitoring application performance, health and availability; diagnose and address anomalies
- Working closely with end-users and engineering teams to ensure efficient issue resolution
- Documenting incidents and findings in postmortems to contribute to continuous improvement efforts
- Automating routine tasks to improve efficiency and prevent recurring issues
- Enhance service management processes by streamlining workflows and reducing manual tasks
- Providing 24/7 support on a rotating roster to ensure continuous application availability
- Contribute to knowledge management through the creation and maintenance of operational documentation.
- Support application deployments, release validation activities, and production readiness checks.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in application support, preferably for SaaS/PaaS, e-commerce, or web-based applications.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across web applications, middleware, APIs, networking, connectivity, and performance-related issues.
- Familiarity with JavaScript-based applications, including exposure to Node.js and React.js.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, and Lambda), including monitoring and issue resolution.
- Strong SQL skills, including writing, modifying, and analyzing queries.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, preferably Terraform.
- Basic scripting skills in Shell or Python.
- Understanding modern application architectures, including microservices, distributed systems, REST APIs and client-server models.
- Experience with incident management processes and ticketing tools such as ServiceNow.
- Ability to perform application testing, validate deployments, and support root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch and Datadog.
- Experience with PaaS and cloud-native platforms is an advantage.
- AWS certifications (e.g., Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect) and ITIL knowledge/certification are advantageous.
- Exposure to reporting and analytics tools, workflow automation, and process improvement initiatives is desirable.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
