Our organization:
As a Senior .NET 8 / Azure Backend Engineer, you will be a core contributor to the StoreWeb modernization initiative—one of TJX’s most strategic technology investments. You’ll architect and build next‑generation Azure‑native services that replace legacy monoliths with resilient, observable, API‑first cloud systems. This role is highly technical and hands‑on, with significant influence on design patterns, modernization strategy, and platform evolution across teams. Although this role has no direct reports, you will operate as a technical leader whose decisions shape engineering standards and accelerate enterprise transformation.
What you will do
Design and build mission‑critical Azure‑native backend services using .NET 8 with strong focus on resiliency, security, and operational excellence.
Architect API‑first services on Azure App Services with a clear path toward AKS‑based evolutionary deployment.
Implement advanced authentication and authorization patterns (OAuth2, JWT, Entra ID).
Engineer resilient systems using retries, timeouts, circuit breakers, bulkheads, and idempotency.
Establish full‑stack observability using App Insights and OpenTelemetry (logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, alerting).
Define health, readiness, diagnostics, SLAs, and SLO standards for modernized services.
Contribute to CI/CD automation, blue‑green/canary templates, and deployment‑safety mechanisms.
Collaborate across platform, data, and integration teams to ensure API stability, backward compatibility, and safe strangler cutovers.
Lead performance profiling, scalability engineering, and .NET runtime diagnostics.
Provide technical leadership by shaping modernization patterns, guiding design decisions, and elevating engineering excellence.
Minimum Qualifications
6+ years of backend engineering experience with modern .NET (6/7/8) and asynchronous service design.
3+ years of deep hands‑on Azure experience with App Services, Functions, APIM, or AKS.
Strong REST/API design fundamentals, secure coding expertise, and distributed‑systems problem‑solving skills.
Hands‑on experience with Azure DevOps, YAML pipelines, CI/CD automation, and IaC (Bicep preferred).
Ability to debug and own services across the full software lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with event‑driven systems (Service Bus, Event Grid).
Hands‑on experience with performance profiling, concurrency tuning, and .NET runtime diagnostics.
Familiarity with distributed‑systems resilience, eventual consistency, and cloud‑scale reliability engineering.
