API Developer – SRE Team
Role Summary
The API Developer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable APIs that enable seamless communication and integration between applications, services, and external systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop secure, scalable REST APIs and integrations.
- Create API specifications using Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Integrate backend systems, databases, and third party services.
- Optimize API performance, reliability, and response times.
- Implement authentication, authorization, and API security standards.
- Troubleshoot API failures, latency issues, and integration problems.
- Write unit tests, automation tests, and support CI/CD pipelines.
- Maintain documentation, versioning, and best practices for API usage.
Mandatory Skills
- Strong programming experience (Java / Python / .NET / Node.js).
- Hands on experience in building REST APIs and backend services.
- Good knowledge of API security (OAuth2, JWT, API Keys).
- Experience with JSON, XML, HTTP methods, and status codes.
- Familiarity with databases (SQL/NoSQL) for data retrieval and updates.
- Understanding of API documentation tools (Swagger / Postman).
- Experience debugging API calls, logs, and integrations.
- Experience with API gateways (Kong, Apigee, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway).
Good-to-Have Skills
- Knowledge of version control (Git) and CI/CD basics.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture.
- Understanding of event-driven integrations (Kafka, MQ).
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP).
- Familiarity with GraphQL.
- Exposure to monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, Splunk, ELK).
