About Submer

Submer enables organizations scaling AI to overcome the limits of traditional datacenters across power, compute density and efficiency.

We design and deliver scalable, high-density AI datacenter infrastructure built around industry-leading liquid cooling, supporting everything from early AI deployments to full-scale production environments.

Acting as a full-stack delivery partner, Submer provides advisory, design, build and IT integration through a single point of accountability, working with a deep ecosystem of technology specialists. This end-to-end approach accelerates time-to-AI while reducing operational cost, complexity and environmental impact.

The result is AI infrastructure that performs today, scales predictably and avoids the redesigns and inefficiencies slowing the market down.

What impact you will have

The role is responsible for :the design, development and integration of building management systems and the controls that run our modular MEP platforms for data centers. This role is responsible for the full controls stack: architecture, PLC/SCADA programming, data integration, control logic, sequencing and system-level validation.

You’ll work closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems architects to define how each MEP module is monitored, automated and coordinated so the entire facility operates reliably and efficiently. You’ll also guide best practices, review vendor implementations and help shape the long-term controls roadmap.

What you’ll do

• Own the architecture and development of control systems across cooling, power, plumbing and support utilities.

• Design and integration of PA, FA, Rodent repellant, WLD, BMS, ASD, Security and access control, CCTV system etc.

• Define control strategies, sequences of operation, alarm logic, failover logic and interlocks across mechanical and electrical systems.

• Develop PLC, HMI and SCADA code and oversee software integration with building management systems, EPMS and monitoring platforms.

• Produce control architecture diagrams, network layouts, data models and interface specifications.

• Perform cross-functional design reviews to ensure control systems align with mechanical, electrical and systems architecture requirements.

• Review and approve vendor controls submittals, functional specifications, hardware selections and software implementations.

• Validate system performance during FAT, SAT and commissioning, including troubleshooting controls, sensors, networks and automation workflows.

• Coordinate with cybersecurity and IT teams to ensure controls networks meet security and reliability requirements.

• Mentor controls engineers and support training for engineering, operations and commissioning teams.

• Support continuous improvement of the MEP modules by identifying opportunities for automation, optimization and predictive insights.

What you’ll need

• Bachelor’s degree Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline.

• 8+ years of experience in IBMS solutions design, controls engineering, automation or industrial software development, ideally with mission-critical facilities or modular equipment.

• Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens or equivalent) and HMI/SCADA platforms.

• Solid understanding of control theory, sequencing, PID loops, interlocks and safety logic.

• Familiarity with building utilities and mechanical and electrical systems found in data centers (cooling systems, switchgear, power distribution, pumps, valves, sensors).

• Experience with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP). • Ability to read and produce P&IDs, control narratives, wiring diagrams and network architecture documents.

• Experience with commissioning, field testing and troubleshooting automation systems. • Strong communication and documentation skills.

• Experience leading smaller teams or mentoring engineers in a controls environment.

What we offer

  • Attractive compensation package reflecting your expertise and experience.
  • A great work environment characterized by friendliness, international diversity, flexibility, and a hybrid-friendly approach.
  • You´ll be part of a fast-growing scale-up with a mission to make a positive impact, offering an exciting career evolution.
