What makes you a great fit- 7+ years of experience building customer-facing web applications
- Strong proficiency in both React (or comparable modern JS framework) and Ruby on Rails
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and working with relational databases
- Comfort owning projects from concept through production, including making architectural trade-offs
- Track record of raising the bar for the team - through mentorship, code quality, or process improvements
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, or cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Responsive design, accessibility standards, and cross-browser compatibility experience
- Experience with observability tooling (logging, monitoring, alerting)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Willingness to work US timezone hours for team collaboration
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience integrating LLMs or AI/ML services into production applications
- Experience with A/B testing, personalization, or data-driven content customization
- Background in a startup or high-growth environment
- Familiarity with compliance, security awareness, or ed-tech domains.
- Own features end-to-end: scope the technical approach, build across frontend and backend, and ship to production
- Design and maintain APIs, data models, and backend services that are reliable and performant
- Build polished, accessible frontend experiences with attention to UI/UX details
- Build and integrate AI-powered features - from personalized learningexperiences to intelligent compliance tooling - from prototype to production
- Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) to accelerate your work and help the team adopt effective AI tooling
- Instrument analytics and use data to guide product and engineering decisions
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineers to deliver on key initiatives
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, technical debt, and reliability issues
- Mentor other engineers through code review, pairing, and architectural guidance
