About the role:
The FinOps Cloud Enablement Expert is a crucial role within an organization that leverages cloud infrastructure and services. The primary responsibility of this role is to bridge the gap between finance, technology, and operations by managing cloud spending, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring financial accountability for cloud usage. The FinOps Specialist will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Finance, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, and IT, to drive cost efficiency, optimize cloud usage, and implement cloud financial management best practices.
Main responsibilities
Financial Management:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive FinOps strategy to optimize cloud & SaaS costs.
- Monitor and analyze spending, providing insights and recommendations for cost saving.
- Establish and enforce governance policies for cloud financial management.
Carveout and Migration Projects:
- Lead financial aspects of IT carveout projects, ensuring accurate cost allocation and budgeting.
- Develop and execute financial migration strategies during carveouts, ensuring minimal disruption and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful financial transitions during carveouts.
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Create detailed financial models and forecasts for cloud expenditures.
- Conduct regular financial reviews and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Implement tools and processes for real-time cloud cost tracking and reporting.
Technical Leadership:
- Provide guidance on best practices for cloud cost optimization.
- Mentor and train team members on FinOps principles and cloud financial management.
- Stay updated with the latest cloud financial management tools and industry trends.
Vendor Relationships:
- Manage relationships with Cloud providers and third-party vendors to ensure support requirements and objectives are met.
About you
Background required
- Education: Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of Cloud proven experiences in similar roles
- Experience managing carve-out projects, including data migration and IT separation, especially in multinational corporations.
- Collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge about security, risk, and compliance, with an understanding of cost implications related to business criticality or continuity
- Passion for customers and problem-solving, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues
- Comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment, effectively managing multiple priorities and projects
- Strong account management skills, experienced in managing external partners and providing exceptional customer support
- Demonstrable ability to work independently, creatively, and with a self-driven, overachiever mindset
Soft skills required
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire technical teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in preparing detailed reports and presentations for leadership, ensuring transparency and understanding of network initiatives and their impact.
- Ability to think strategically, foreseeing potential challenges and developing proactive solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a creative and analytical approach to overcoming obstacles and finding effective solutions in a dynamic environment.
