Position Summary

This position is responsible for on designing, developing, and testing components of highly scalable, distributed, and high performing carrier grade software solutions that ensure private, secure communications along with design, development and maintenance of key internal engineering tools and services for performance and scalability areas. perform as an individual contributor and work very closely with architects, leads, cross-functional teams and other stakeholders you will strengthen F5’s technology offerings, and collaborate with peers under the direction of technical leads on assigned project teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ability to do performance and scale testing on the networking and security products.

  • Design and implement major components of internal engineering tools and services.

  • Research, investigate and define new areas of technology to enhance existing offerings or new product directions.

  • Evaluate performance of products; tune, re-evaluate the design and implementation of current source code.

  • Document software designs via functional specifications and other design documents.

  • Conduct presentations internal and external.

  • May participate in hiring and onboarding process.

  • Collaborate with team members and technical leads.

  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Non-Negotiable Skills:

  • Knowledge of OSI Layer-1 to 7 including LAN switches, routers, tunnels, general TCP/IP and associated protocols preferred.

  • Must have experience and knowledge of Linux networking including networking protocols, architecture, and technologies (HTTP(S), TCP/IP, ...)

  • Must have programming experience (preferably 2 or more: MySQL, Perl, Golang, Python, C)

Transferrable Skills:

  • Able to demonstrate analytic / troubleshooting and debugging skills.

  • Able to manage ambiguity in work.

  • Able to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced high-performance environment.

  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications.

  • Experience with Linux OS Environment

Learnable Skills:

  • Can design and implement new functionality in multiple feature areas, while developing subject matter expertise in at least one.

  • Ability to demonstrate emerging leadership qualities. Serves as de facto lead in small group interaction.

  • Use of Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift

  • Cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud along with Terraform

  • CI/CD and project management tools (e.g. Git, Gitlab, Jira, Bugzilla, etc)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree of Computer Science or a closely related field.
