What would you do here?
- Assist in the deployment, configuration, and management of cloud-based database systems on Amazon RDS
- Set up and configure monitoring and alerting tools to continuously monitor the health, performance, and availability of cloud databases.
- Respond to alerts and incidents, working to minimize downtime and performance degradation.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and infrastructure as code (IAC) templates (e.g., using Terraform) to automate routine database tasks, deployments, and updates.
- Participate in on-call rotations to respond to database-related incidents and perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining security best practices for cloud databases, including access controls, encryption, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Regularly audit and assess database security configurations.
- Configure and manage database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability in case of failures or data loss.
- Analyze database query performance and collaborate with developers to optimize SQL queries and schemas.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the reliability, scalability, and performance of cloud databases.
- Assist in the design and optimization of database schemas for cloud environments.
What are we looking for?
- 1-5 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in managing and administering PostgreSQL database systems in Amazon RDS
- Strong SQL skills for writing and optimizing database queries.
- Experience with AWS platform and Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools for DB systems (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana,) is beneficial.
- Ability to write scripts (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and infrastructure as code (IAC) for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
- Knowledge of database security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Having ‘AWS Certified Database - Specialty' certification is a plus
