Mission
The Database Engineer will support the team in resolving production issues, assisting with database performance optimization, and contributing to enhancements within the existing database infrastructure. This role focuses on executing assigned database tasks, maintaining database standards, and collaborating with senior team members to improve database objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, and indexes.
First 30 Days
- Gain understanding of Invoice Cloud’s database architecture and environments
- Learn established development standards and formatting conventions
- Follow protocols when performing database changes (Inserts, Updates, Deletes)
- Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback
- Assist in identifying performance or data integrity issues
First 90 Days
- Develop and modify stored procedures
- Complete DB requests accurately and within expected timelines
- Navigate and utilize the Azure Portal Dashboard for monitoring and support
- Understand common development considerations in Azure SQL DB
- Troubleshoot database-related issues with guidance when needed
First 180 Days
- Independently manage routine database tasks for assigned scrum team(s)
- Contribute to performance improvements (index optimization, query tuning, minor redesigns)
- Review project specifications and implement database changes
- Support roadmap initiatives in collaboration with the team
Ongoing Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor processes critical to the Data Services department
- Debug and enhance existing stored procedures
- Ensure all changes are logged appropriately (DB or Jira)
- Monitor DB errors and resolve or escalate as needed
- Troubleshoot database connectivity and performance issues
- Support monitoring of database uptime and environment stability
Competencies
- Strong T-SQL foundation
- Experience with Stored Procedures, Table, and View design
- Query Performance Tuning
- Understanding of database maintenance best practices

Position Overview
Invoice Cloud is seeking an MS SQL Database Engineer to join our Data Services team. This role is ideal for a database professional with 5–8 years of experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will support database maintenance, monitoring, performance optimization, and development initiatives while collaborating closely with engineering teams.
Work Responsibilities
- Support maintenance of current database infrastructure
- Assist in managing production, staging, development, and test database environments
- Implement database design changes and improvements
- Optimize SQL queries and improve database performance
- Support database upgrades and enhancements
- Review and improve stored procedures, views, and functions
- Perform database development tasks as assigned
- Assist with Help Desk tickets related to Data Services
- Document database processes and changes
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams
Required Skills
- T-SQL
- Stored Procedure, Table, and View Design
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Microsoft Azure SQL DB
- Visual Studio (VB.NET, C#)

Additional Requirements
