Develop and lead GIS data migration strategies for utility-sector clients, including extraction, cleansing, transformation, loading, validation, and integration. Build ETL workflows using FME, ArcGIS, and Python; manage enterprise spatial databases; design Utility Network data models and validation rules; document processes; support training; and mentor distributed teams.
We are looking for a Data Migration specialist/engineer, with hands on experience in Data Migration and Engineering related projects for Utilities sector, particularly in Telecom, Electricity or Gas industries.
What We Are Looking For:
Candidate must have core GIS knowledge and experience in the data engineering and data migration projects. The Ideal candidate can engage with clients, support the creation and management of functional and technical documentations, provide realistic project timeline estimates, track the status and progress of the project using CPM, PERT, Gantt Charts and other methods. The candidate should also have experience with different spatial databases, data structures and format, along with the ability to design and implement workflows.

Must Haves:
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in core GIS concepts and software's such as ArcMap or ArcGIS pro.
- Proficiency in Structured Query Language and spatial databases such as PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, duckDB etc.
- Proficiency in Data Integration and Workflow Development software such as FME Form (previously FME Desktop) and FME Flow. (previously FME Server)
- Proficiency with core architecture of ESRI Utilities Network and/or ESRI ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing.
Soft skills:
- Superior communication and business acumen: Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to understand and articulate business value.
- Project management: Exceptional organisational, planning, and estimation skills for successful project delivery in a global setting.
- Leadership and mentorship: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate globally distributed teams.
Good to Have:
- Familiarity with the python programming language and GDAL/OGR ecosystem.
- Familiarity in working with API’s, Feature Services, Map Services and Tile Services.
- Familiarity in Architecture and Deployment of ESRI and Safe Software Enterprise platforms.
- Familiarity with Cloud Environments such as Azure and AWS.
- Certifications from Safe Software FME Form Certified professional, or ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise Architect.
What You’ll Do:
Migration strategy: Develop comprehensive data migration strategies, including plans for data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and loading (ETL) from legacy systems into new environments. Lead data migration projects to Utility Network from legacy GIS systems using FME, Python/ArcPy, ModelBuilder, ETL workflows.
Data quality assurance: Ensure data integrity throughout the migration process, using tools and techniques to profile, cleanse, and validate spatial and non-spatial data. Design data models, schemas, and validation rules for Utility Network.
ETL workflow development: Design, build, and optimize ETL workflows using tools such as FME, ArcGIS Data Interoperability, or Python scripting to facilitate data transformation and migration. Integrate ArcGIS workflows with enterprise systems (ERP/SAP, WMS, OMS/DMS/ADMS, SCADA, CRM).
Spatial database management: Architect and manage multiple enterprise-level geo-databases (e.g., PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, Microsoft SQL Server), ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.
System integration: Coordinate with technical teams to ensure seamless integration of migrated data with new applications and services, addressing challenges related to data compatibility and standardisation. Drive spatial data quality improvements, governance, and transformation processes.
Training and Documentation support: Document steps and procedures undertaken to implement a workflow along with the necessary details to operationalise the workflow. Provide training and support to teammates and mentor them to transfer the knowledge created.
