Associate Software Engineer – Systems (Platform) - Linux, Python, C++

Location: Hyderabad, India (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days remote)

Role Overview

Nasuni is hiring an Associate Software Engineer – Systems (Platform) to join our Platform Engineering team in Hyderabad.

This role focuses on building and improving the Linux-based foundation of Nasuni’s NAS appliance platform, using Python and C++, which runs across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.

This is an early-career role designed for engineers who:

• Have strong fundamentals in Operating Systems, Data Structures, and Systems Programming
• Enjoy working close to Linux and system-level behavior
• Are eager to learn how large-scale infrastructure systems operate in production

This role is not for frontend or application-only developers. It is for engineers interested in systems, platforms, and infrastructure software.

Level & Scope Definition

In this role, you will:

• Contribute to component-level development within platform subsystems
• Work under guidance from senior engineers on design and debugging
• Build foundational skills in Linux systems, storage, and platform reliability
• Participate in debugging real-world issues across OS and system layers

You will grow from executing scoped tasks to contributing meaningfully to system behavior and performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Linux-based systems software using C++ and/or Python 
• Write scripts and tooling (Bash or similar) for automation and system workflows
• Assist in debugging issues across Linux OS, filesystem, and networking layers
• Contribute to system packaging, deployment, and lifecycle workflows
• Write and maintain automated tests (pytest or similar)
• Participate in code reviews and engineering discussions
• Collaborate with QA and senior engineers on issue diagnosis
• Use AI-assisted tools (e.g., code assistants, log analysis tools) to improve debugging and development productivity while validating outputs

Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications

• B.Tech / BE in Computer Science or related field
• 0–2 years experience (including internships or significant projects)
• Strong programming skills in Python or C/C++
• Solid understanding of:
• Operating Systems
• Data Structures & Algorithms
• Hands-on experience with Linux (academic or project-based)
• Experience building at least one non-trivial system/project
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Linux internals (processes, memory, file systems)
• Experience with shell scripting (Bash)
• Familiarity with filesystems (ext4, XFS)
• Exposure to virtualization or cloud environments
• Experience with Git and basic CI workflows

Ideal Qualifications

• Systems-level academic or personal projects (e.g., OS modules, storage tools)
• Contributions to open-source or technical projects
• Experience debugging performance or concurrency issues
• Demonstrated use of AI tools in coding/debugging workflows

Experience Guidelines

• 0–2 years total experience (internships included)
• Strong academic foundation in systems and programming
• Demonstrated hands-on project experience is critical
