Hyderabad is an important innovation hub in India’s semiconductor sector, which is projected to be worth $64 billion by 2026. India has offered $10 billion in subsidies to bring in chip manufacturers, and one multinational corporation with a Hyderabad office has already committed to building a manufacturing facility. 5 Semiconductor Companies in Hyderabad to Know

Founded in 1968, Intel is one of the world’s top chip manufacturers, developing processors for everything from gaming to edge applications. The California-based company employs 14,000 workers in India. In Hyderabad, it recently opened a 300,000-square-foot design and engineering center that features 40,000 square feet of lab space and seating for 1,500 employees.

 

Microchip Technology offers a wide variety of embedded control solutions using microprocessors, microcontrollers, analog semiconductors and radiofrequency (RF) devices. In 2023, the Arizona-based company announced the opening of a 168,000-square-foot R&D center in Hyderabad. The office, which has capacity for 1,000 employees, is part of the company’s pledge to invest $300 million in its India operations.

 

Qualcomm is a large semiconductor company that develops processors used in 5G, smartphones, Bluetooth and other telecommunications technology. In 2022, the San Diego-based company opened its largest office outside of the U.S. in Hyderabad. Roughly 8,700 employees work at the 1.8 million-square-foot facility. 

 

Micron Technology is a semiconductor company that specializes in computer memory and data storage solutions. The Idaho-based company opened a 350,000-square-foot Hyderabad office in 2019 with plans to hire 2,000 employees. In 2023, the company said it would construct a new assembly and test manufacturing facility in Gujarat, creating 5,000 new jobs.

 

Founded in 1969, California-based AMD is a large semiconductor company that develops internal processors, graphics cards and adaptive Systems on Chips (SoCs). The company has two offices in Hyderabad, including a 175,000-square-foot global design center in Hyderabad that opened in 2013.
